2010 SCC GRANT AWARDEES
The Salem Cultural Council (SCC) has announced the awarding of grants totaling $12,550 to 18 local artists and cultural organizations. The grants were awarded from a pool of funds distributed to Salem by the by the
Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency that supports public programs and educational activities in the arts, sciences and humanities.

The SCC is one of 335 local councils that serve every city and town in the state. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the
Massachusetts Cultural Council, which then allocates funds to each local council. Decisions about which activities to support are made at the community level by the local Salem council.
The members of the Salem Cultural Council are: Gerry Ryan, Co-Chair; Sara Ashodian, Renee Austin, Derek Barr, Kristine Doll, Nick Giarratani and Karen Gahagan. If interested in becoming a member of the Council, please call Gerry Ryan, Chairperson at 978-744-8258.
The Salem Cultural Council will seek applications again in the fall of 2010. Information and forms are available online at www.salemculturalcouncil.org or at the Massachusetts Cultural Council web site. Deadline for grants is due October 15, 2010.
